Snorkelling with the seals at Montague Island (Barunguba) is a truly unforgettable wildlife experience. Located off the coast near Narooma, this protected marine area is home to a large colony of Australian and New Zealand fur seals known for their playful and curious nature.
During the snorkel, you’ll enter the clear, cool waters surrounding the island and observe seals swimming, diving, and gliding effortlessly around you. The seals choose how close they come, ensuring a respectful, non-intrusive interaction in their natural environment. You may also encounter a variety of marine life, including colourful fish, rays, and vibrant underwater kelp forests.
This guided experience is suitable for confident swimmers and is conducted with a strong focus on safety, conservation, and minimal impact on wildlife.

Important Information
Participants must be confident swimmers, as depths are between 5 to 15 metres
Seals must not be touched, chased, or fed. Please also respect there space no climbing up and onto rocks for photography.
All instructions from Operators must be followed at all times.
All tours are subjected to minimum numbers and sea conditions
If the trip is cancelled we will try and move you to the next available tour however that may not be the next day during our busy period.
